Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian got the biggest win of the season so far this weekend by topping head coach Jeff Traylor and the defending Conference-USA Champion UTSA Roadrunners at home on Sep. 17. Texas overcame a first-quarter deficit to get the edge on UTSA by the final score of 41-20.

As a result, the Longhorns got a pretty successful weekend among the visiting recruits that were on campus to witness this big win to cap the non-conference slate this weekend. This was a pretty good atmosphere to witness such a victory under the lights at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin.

This win over UTSA also gave Sark and the Longhorns staff yet another positive pitch on the recruiting trail following a solid showing in a tough one-point loss to the No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide last weekend. Sark and his staff sure have plenty of ammo at this point to keep the momentum going on the recruiting trail this fall for the 2023 and 2024 classes.

With that in mind, here’s a look at five key recruits that were impressed by Texas’ 21-point win over UTSA on Sep. 17.

Jaden Allen, CB

The first commit in the Longhorns 2024 class was in attendance for Texas’ defense of UTSA this weekend. The touted four-star Aledo cornerback Jaden Allen committed to Texas back on Dec. 29, 2021.

Allen was on campus for what is now a half-dozen unofficial visits in the last year. But this was the first time that Allen got to visit Texas for a night game at DKR since he committed to the 2024 class last December.

And by the looks of it, Allen had a great time during his visit to the Forty Acres this weekend. He was active on social media, making a few posts and getting involved in the activity on Twitter and Instagram in the midst of Texas’ win over UTSA.

It is an encouraging sign for the Longhorns that the initial commit in the 2024 class seems so locked-in with this staff and is connecting well with some of the other top targets for the coaches for this cycle.
