Jordon Johnson-Rubell, S

Perhaps the most important uncommitted visitor for the Longhorns for the UTSA game was the highly touted four-star IMG Academy safety Jordon Johnson-Rubell. This was the second unofficial visit for Johnson-Rubell to Austin since the summer.

And it looks like this was a successful unofficial visit by all accounts coming out of the weekend.

According to the postgame recruit reactions from Justin Wells of Inside Texas on Sep. 18 (paid content), Johnson-Rubell said that there was “a lot of love at Texas” and that the “fan base was insane”.

At the end of the day, it’s great to see that Johnson-Rubell had a great visit to Austin this weekend and that both the atmosphere and some of the usage of the players impressed him and his camp.

Johntay Cook, WR

One of the biggest commits in the Longhorns 2023 class that was on campus this weekend at DKR for Texas’ matchup against UTSA was the elite five-star DeSoto wide receiver Johntay Cook. This weekend saw Cook unofficially visit Texas for the second time since he committed to the Longhorns 2023 class back in late June.

Cook is a lightning rod of energy for the Longhorns on the recruiting trail, and he seemed to have that type of impact in attendance at DKR on the night of Sep.17.

It’s also good to hear that Cook continues to have successful visits to Austin this fall. And this was big for him since this was the first time for him to visit DKR for a night game.

Cook reportedly said that he “got goosebumps” and that he “loved it” at DKR for this win over the Roadrunnners.
