Tahj Brooks, RB

Junior running back Tahj Brooks is back in Lubbock looking for his first career win against the Longhorns. After serving in a secondary role the past two seasons, Brooks looks like the number one back in this Kittley offense.

Standing at 5-foot-10 and230 pounds, Brooks is a strong and compact running back who provides a sneaky burst and a willingness to attack any defender head-on.

Although the Tech offensive line has struggled this season, Brooks has racked up 132 yards and four scores on 27 carries. He has also hauled in 11 receptions for 79 yards.

Brooks is averaging 6.0 YPC on eight carries around the right end of the offensive line. According to PFF,  he has an above-average elusive rating this season. Brooks is constantly breaking tackles and making one or two guys miss, even if that means turning what would be a two-yard loss into a half-yard gain.

I expect Kittley to feature Brooks early and often on Saturday. Running the football and finding Brooks in the flat is an easy way to help build confidence for quarterback Donovan Smith.
