Agiye Hall makes his first catch for Texas football vs. Texas Tech
In the Big 12 opener on Sep. 24, No. 22 ranked Texas football faced new head coach Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders on the road in Lubbock. And the game didn’t get off to the most ideal start for Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and his squad.
Early in the second quarter, Texas Tech held a lead over the Longhorns by a score of 14-10 after quarterback Donovan Smith found running back Tahj Brooks for a 17-yard touchdown pass.
Yet, Texas got a nice boost late in the second quarter as junior quarterback Hudson Card got the offense going right before halftime. And one of the plays that helped to get Card and the Texas offense going in the second quarter was a pass for a medium gain on a first down play between the junior quarterback and redshirt freshman wide receiver Agiye Hall.
Not only was this an important pass play for Card to connect with Hall for a rhythm completion for seven yards, but this was also the first catch for the former Alabama Crimson Tide transfer wearing the burnt orange.

That was the lone catch for Hall in the first half. But he was on the field for multiple snaps, which is a new development after the last two weeks. And it drew quite the reaction from Longhorns Twitter in the midst of the Big 12 opener against Texas Tech.
Hall made his Texas debut by getting a single offensive snap in the loss to his former team, Alabama, a couple of weeks ago. And then, Hall got five offensive snaps for Texas in the Week 3 win at home over the UTSA Roadrunners.
It looks like Hall is well on his way to at least topping a dozen offensive snaps for the Longhorns against the Red Raiders. He got a bigger opportunity when Texas had star sophomore wide receiver Xavier Worthy come up limping in the first half.
Worthy was in and out of the game throughout the first half after he first came up limping early in this game.
Hall now has five career catches under his belt, good for 79 receiving yards (15.8 yards per catch), with no receiving touchdowns. Texas went to the locker room at halftime with a 24-14 edge over Texas Tech in Lubbock on Sep. 24.
