5-Star QB commit Arch Manning remains locked-in with Texas football
There are a handful of core commits in the 2023 Texas football recruiting class that has formed the very bedrock that the program could be built on heading into the future. Clearly, the most important of those foundational commitments in the 2023 class is the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns staff made it a priority during the summer to take advantage of as much of the momentum on the recruiting trail as possible after landing the commitment from Arch in late June. And this staff certainly rode quite the wave of momentum since that time on the recruiting trail in the 2023 class.
Yet, if anyone was to call into question the status of Arch’s commitment to the Longhorns this fall, it looks like that could be put to bed coming out of the weekend. According to a report from Mike Roach of Horns247 on Sep. 26 (paid content), Arch is firm on his commitment to Texas this fall.
Arch Manning remains solid with Texas football in the 2023 recruiting class this fall
It sounds like the only way that Texas could lose Arch’s firm commitment in the 2023 class this fall would be if something were to happen with Sark and/or QB coach AJ Milwee.
This Horns247 mentions that Arch is part of a larger group of Texas commits in the 2023 class that remain about as solid as it gets at this point of the cycle.
I would personally include the likes of five-star DeSoto wide receiver Johntay Cook, four-star Edgewater (FL) running back Cedric Baxter Jr., four-star North Crowley linebacker S’Maje Burrell, etc. among some of the core Texas commits in the 2023 class this fall.
This is a good group that Sark and the Longhorns staff can continue to rely on in the 2023 class as we move closer to the first signing day. There are a few pieces that Texas is looking to get in place in the 2023 class before the Early Signing Period, including one more wide receiver commit. But the 2023 class looks really good at the moment, spearheaded by the elite Louisiana QB Arch.
Texas currently holds commitments from 22 recruits in the 2023 class as of Sep. 26. Sark and the Longhorns are only going to take one quarterback in the 2023 class with Arch leading the way for this group.
