3 key Texas football commits taking other official visits this fall
Malik Muhammad, CB
While I would be less concerned about the status of the commitment of five-star South Oak Cliff cornerback Malik Muhammad than Williams’ this fall, both recruitments will be some dog fights in the next couple of months for the Texas coaching staff. At this point in the fall, Muhammad actually has more official visits scheduled than Williams.
On Sep. 29, Muhammad took to Twitter to confirm his official visit to College Station on Oct. 29. That is the weekend when head coach Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies host Kiffin and Ole Miss at Kyle Field in College Station.
Muhammad is also on the docket to take an official visit to Tuscaloosa to see Alabama on Oct. 21, when the Crimson Tide host head coach Mike Leach and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
That makes it two key visit weekends for the Longhorns faithful to watch in Tuscaloosa when the top two highest-rated Texas DB commits make the trip to see some Alabama games.
It sounds like there is a real possibility that Texas will host Muhammad for another visit for a game weekend at some point in November. Texas is probably taking to the strategy of getting the last word among the game weekend visits to get Muhammad locked in the 2023 class before signing day.
Muhammad feels like one of those must-get potential signees in the Longhorns 2023 class when it’s all said and done for this cycle. He profiles well to Texas and feels like a natural fit for Austin and this defense. But Texas is going to have to stick this one out as the Crimson Tide and Aggies both push for him through the whistle in the next few months.
