This coming weekend won’t be a huge one for Texas football recruiting in terms of the visitor list that is amassing for the home matchup against head coach Neal Brown and the West Virginia Mountaineers. At least among the 2023 visitors, it looks like there could only be a handful of uncommitted recruits in attendance for Texas-West Virginia this weekend.

One name to watch among the potential visitors among 2023 recruits for head coach Steve Sarkisian, special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks, and the Longhorns is a tight end that is currently committed to the Vanderbilt Commodores in the SEC.

The recent Vanderbilt commit and three-star North Crowley (TX) tight end Ke’Morreun Pimpton is apparently a candidate to be in attendance for this weekend’s matchup against the Mountaineers.

According to a report from Inside Texas on Sep. 30 (paid content), Texas was in contact recently with Pimpton and there is the possibility of a visit on the table for the Oct. 1 matchup against West Virginia. This visit reportedly isn’t locked in yet, but Texas should know soon if the Fort Worth product is planning on attending this game in Austin.

It’s also worth noting that a report from Hudson Standish of Horns247 this week mentions that Pimpton is a tight end recruit with his stock rising fast this fall. It sounds like Pimpton is one of those new senior offers that was a recent scouting job done by Sark and his staff.

It also makes sense that the Texas staff would have some extra eyes on Pimpton this fall. Pimpton’s teammate is the highly touted four-star North Crowley linebacker and Texas commit S’Maje Burrell.

Texas has yet to officially send a scholarship offer Pimpton’s way. But if a visit winds up coming to fruition this weekend with Pimpton, and Texas sends him an offer soon thereafter, I would consider it a real possibility that the Longhorns flip his commitment this fall.

We will continue to monitor this situation to see if Pimpton does attend this game on Oct. 1.

Texas currently has two tight ends committed in the 2023 class and has 22 recruits in the mix in total. The two tight end commits are a pair of three-stars in Mater Dei’s Spencer Shannon and Isidore Newman’s Will Randle.
