Julian Lewis, QB

This weekend presented Sark, quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee, and the Longhorns with a big-time opportunity to build the relationship early on with the elite 2026 Carrollton (GA) quarterback Julian Lewis. And it really sounds like Texas knocked this unofficial visit out of the park with Lewis.

The Georgia native said after this game that “the stadium, fans, and coaches were amazing”. It also sounds like Lewis loved the night game atmosphere at DKR.

As the recruit that might be the hottest commodity among quarterback recruits for the 2026 cycle, it’s insane that a freshman high school player already has 20 offers. Lewis holds offers from the likes of the Georgia Bulldogs, Florida Gators, Alabama Crimson Tide, Tennessee Volunteers, Texas A&M, and Michigan Wolverines. He also already holds a Texas offer.

It’s also important to note that Lewis is one of just six 2026 recruits to hold a Texas offer at the moment. He is also the lone 2026 quarterback recruit that Texas has offered thus far.

Kaliq Lockett, WR

Another key wide receiver recruit that is still in the early stages of his recruitment this fall that was on campus in Austin for an unofficial visit for the Texas-West Virginia game was the highly touted four-star 2025 Sachse (TX) product Kaliq Lockett. This was the first unofficial visit that Lockett made to Austin for a game weekend at DKR.

There isn’t a ton of feedback that has come out of this unofficial visit for Lockett to Austin. But we do have enough information to say that Lockett definitely enjoyed this visit and liked to get the chance to connect with the staff this fall.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see an offer from Texas extended to Lockett soon. The only three FBS schools to offer Lockett thus far are the UTSA Roadrunners, Utah Utes, and SMU Mustangs. Getting an offer out to Lockett in the next few months could be a nice way for Texas to get in the door early with a talented 6-foot-1 and 170-pound sophomore wideout early in his recruitment.
