Texas football got a big win over the West Virginia Mountaineers at home on Oct. 1. Head coach Steve Sarkisian got a convincing 38-20 win over head coach Neal Brown and West Virginia at home in a convincing fashion, which was the first win in Big 12 play for Texas.

Sark and the Longhorns responded well after the tough upset loss in overtime last weekend in Lubbock to the Texas Tech Red Raiders by the final score of 37-34. Texas looked much better on all sides of the ball in this game, especially in the second half.

There were some flaws that Sark and the Longhorns still have to work through in the second half, but we saw some significant strides at the right time from this team.

Texas got going on each side of the ball before facing the Oklahoma Sooners and new head coach Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners on Oct. 8. We could see redshirt freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers return next weekend against Oklahoma after a great performance on Oct. 1 from junior Hudson Card in the win over West Virginia.

Here are some of the social media and fan reactions to note from the win over West Virginia for Texas.

This isn’t a reaction to the win, but I wanted to include this win for tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders in this touchdown.

This is 1000 percent fair.

What else could we want?

This was a scary injury to West Virginia running back CJ Donaldson. Good to hear he was cleared to travel back home.

Lol before Red River.

Texas Homer is right about the defense still needing to show more in the second half.

Chris Petersen with a hot take.

Gotta love the win for the Longhorns this weekend. Next up is the must-win game over Oklahoma, which all of a sudden looks much easier than it will be. Texas comes into Red River on Oct. 8 with momentum they must capitalize.
