Xavier Worthy gets two TDs of more than 50 yards

Another instance of a potential void due to injury issues for the Sooners could be something that benefits Texas in the deep passing game. If Oklahoma is set to miss sophomore safety Billy Bowman in Red River due to a right leg injury that he suffered in the loss to TCU, there will be a huge gap in the back end of that defense.

Bowman was the plug that kept the lid on this Oklahoma defense throughout much of the early phase of this season. But you got to see what could happen when Bowman gets injured and this Oklahoma defense starts to break down against TCU last weekend.

OU managed to allow more than 150 passing yards on deep balls, good for three passing touchdowns and no picks. A defense that looked at least decent at defending the deep ball during the non-conference slate was exposed by TCU.

This looks like the perfect opportunity for star sophomore wide receiver Xavier Worthy to continue his breakout season. Worthy had a great game for Texas in the win over West Virginia with three total touchdowns and nearly 120 receiving yards. And roughly half of those receiving yards came on deep balls.

Combine Worthy finding his stride of late with the lack of effectiveness of the Oklahoma secondary on the deep ball, this really looks like a recipe for a massive game for the second-year Texas wideout. And if you add in the possible return of a certain Texas quarterback that has a beautiful deep ball, I really like Worthy to have a big game in Red River.

Worthy was extremely productive for Texas in Red River last season. I expect that to be the case again this weekend.
