For those of you planning on attending the Red River Rivalry game this weekend between Texas football and the Oklahoma Sooners, the price looks like it will be insane. Per TickPick, this edition of the Red River Rivalry game is the most expensive on record for this secondary marketplace.

The average selling price for tickets (per TickPick numbers) is $502. And as of the afternoon of Oct. 5, the cheapest ticket you could buy for this game was a whopping $214. That seat is way up high at the Cotton Bowl too.

This is also the second-most expensive game of the college football season thus far. It’s also worth noting that this is nearly a 50 percent increase in the ticket price from the Red River game last season.

The most expensive ticket in this game sold for $969 (two total reportedly sold in that order).

Per Tickpick, 31 percent of the fans traveling for this game are coming from the state of Oklahoma and roughly 50 percent are in-state in Texas.

Red River is one of two games that is set to take place during the Texas State Fair in Dallas. The other is the annual State Fair Classic

Ticket prices for Texas football vs. OU in Red River are nuts

But we’re still going to see that famous stadium split that is able to generate a lot of noise on the field, no matter who the momentum is with in the game.

Moreover, it is crazy that the ticket price for this Red River game is so expensive on the secondary marketplace while this is the first contest in this series where both teams are unranked since the late 1990s.

This just goes to show the magnitude of the Red River Rivalry game.

We are sure to see an exciting game this weekend as it always seems like these two teams play it close no matter the state of either team heading in. On paper, Texas looks like a pretty clear favorite at the moment. But that’s just not the way this game usually works. I’m sure Oklahoma will give Texas the best they got this weekend.
