Texas is very much alive in the Big 12 race

This Texas team led by Ewers, Sanders, and star junior running back Bijan Robinson looks like what we thought could challenge for a Big 12 title this season coming out of the one-point last-second loss to the Crimson Tide nearly one month ago. Texas

Ewers and the Longhorns demolished this Oklahoma team through and through. The Texas offense put up nearly 600 total yards of offense. And the defense was effective at getting off the field on third and fourth downs compared to what we’ve seen from them for the rest of the season.

Texas will really be put to the test in the next two weeks to round out the October slate. Next week, Texas faces maybe the best defense in the Big 12 with the Iowa State Cyclones coming to DKR and the Forty Acres on Oct. 15. And then, Texas might have the toughest test of the Big 12 slate on the road on Oct. 22 against the No. 7 Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Yet, I firmly believe that the version of Texas we’ve seen at times throughout this season led by an effective Ewers is good enough to beat any team in the Big 12, at home or on the road. Texas could’ve beat Oklahoma in this edition of Red River by 60 or 70 points at least if they kept their foot on the gas in the second half.

We’ll really get to see how good this Texas team is next weekend against a good Iowa State defense at home.
