Taylor Tatum, RB

One of the funniest reactions to the win for the Longhorns over the Sooners this weekend came courtesy of the highly touted 2024 Longview running back Taylor Tatum. Following the conclusion of this game, Tatum reportedly said that “it got kind of boring” with some laughs after.

He also noted that “Texas runs it good”, which is very valid considering what we saw out of star junior running back Bijan Robinson against the hapless Sooner defense.

Tatum is one of the early notable 2024 running back targets in place for new running backs coach Tashard Choice and the Longhorns in the 2024 class. He was in attendance at DKR last month for the Alabama game and Texas is still working on getting Tatum back to campus again for another game weekend this fall.

Julian Lewis, QB

A rising elite recruit that was in attendance last weekend for Texas’ win over the West Virginia Mountaineers was the 2026 Carrollton (GA) quarterback Julian Lewis. According to the postgame recruit reactions from Mike Roach of Horns247 (paid content) this weekend, Lewis said that “Texas dominated in all phases”.

Texas seems to be on the rise right now with one of the most notable 2026 recruits at the moment. Lewis enjoyed his visit to Austin to see Texas last weekend for the West Virginia game. And it looked like Texas continues to rise in Lewis’ eyes after the impressive performance in this Red River win over Oklahoma.
