A big win for Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian on Oct. 8 saw this team absolutely dismantle the Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Rivalry game. Texas shutout the Sooners at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on Oct. 8, winning by the final score of 49-0.

Texas managed the largest margin of victory for the program in the history of the Red River series. Sark and the Longhorns also managed to deliver Oklahoma the worst shutout loss in program history.

The impressive 49-point win for the Longhorns over the Sooners moves the team’s record on the season to 4-2 (2-1 Big 12). Texas is also sitting on a two-game winning streak coming out of Week 6.

Next up for the Longhorns is a matchup at home at the friendly confines of Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin against head coach Matt Campbell and the Iowa State Cyclones on Oct. 15.

Iowa State comes into this meeting with Texas sporting a record of 3-3 (0-3 Big 12) following another close loss in conference play this weekend at the hands of the Kansas State Wildcats. Kansas State downed Iowa State in Ames on Oct. 8 by the narrow final score of 10-9.

That was the third straight one-possession loss for the Cyclones in Big 12 play. Iowa State has lost its three games this season by a combined margin of 11 points.
