Ka’Morreun Pimpton, TE

Another key recruit for the 2023 cycle that is currently committed to another school that is set to visit Texas this weekend for the Iowa State game is the fast-rising three-star Vanderbilt Commodores pledge and Fort Worth North Crowley tight end Ka’Morreun Pimpton.

And while Texas does currently hold two commitments from tight ends in the 2023 class, it’s pretty apparent that special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks and the Longhorns aren’t done recruiting at the position. Texas still has both Pimpton and the elite five-star Pinnacle (AZ) product Duce Robinson on the tight end board for the 2023 class at this point of the fall.

I would obviously consider Robinson the top tight end target for the Longhorns 2023 class this fall. But with the USC Trojans and Georgia Bulldogs firmly taking the lead in the race to land his commitment at this point of the fall, winning this recruitment doesn’t look as likely as it did a couple of months ago.

Meanwhile, Pimpton’s recruitment is really heating up of late. He has multiple Power Five offers sent his way in the last few weeks alone including from the Auburn Tigers, LSU Tigers, and Washington Huskies.

Texas has yet to officially extend an offer to Pimpton. But if Banks, Sark, and the Longhorns do offer Pimpton coming out of the weekend, I would consider it a legitimate possibility for Texas to flip him from Vanderbilt this fall.
