4 key visiting recruits for Texas football vs. Iowa State this weekend
Gekyle Baker, WR
Gerry Hamilton of Inside Texas was right on the recruitment of the talented and underrated three-star Brownsboro (TX) wide receiver Gekyle Baker for a good while now, as he is many of the biggest prospects this staff is after.
The Iowa State game visitor list from Hamilton of Inside Texas shows that Baker is one of the 2024 recruits making the trip to Austin for this Big 12 contest on Oct. 15.
In fact, Baker will be one of two rising 2024 wide receiver recruits in attendance at DKR in Austin this weekend for the Iowa State game. The other will be the three-star Fort Worth Timber Creek wideout Dozie Ezukanma (little brother of former Texas Tech wide receiver Erik Ezukanma).
Moreover, it goes without saying that Baker could be something special if he is a three-star wideout (and unranked by some sites) for most recruiting services at the moment but he already holds a Texas offer. It even sounds like Sark, new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion, and the Longhorns recently offered Baker without seeing him in person first.
This weekend will be the first time that Baker visits Texas for a game weekend, officially or unofficially. This could serve as an important point early in the recruiting timeline for Baker as Texas is looking to set the pace heading into next offseason. If Texas is able to make a solid impression on Baker on and off the field this weekend, they could start to establish their slot as the potential frontrunner in this recruitment soon.
