Quinn Ewers will have growing pains

We got to see a lot of the highs and lows that Ewers will present for the Texas offense this season in this game.

Don’t get me wrong, this was a very tough Iowa State defense that Texas matched up against this weekend. Iowa State probably has the best defense in the Big 12, especially with what we saw out of the Baylor Bears and Oklahoma State this week. The Kansas State Wildcats might have a claim there, but that’s about it.

Despite the tough defense he faced this weekend, Ewers did a pretty good job limiting mistakes. He didn’t throw any interceptions in this game. And outside of that weird fumble play in the backfield that went for a big loss in the first half, Ewers didn’t have many catastrophic/costly mistakes that came back to haunt Texas.

Ewers finished up this game completing 17 of his 26 passing attempts for 172 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, and no interceptions. Dekkers and Ewers both had a 159.0 QBR.

This game for Ewers can be summed up by saying that he had some really nice throws that the wideouts should’ve converted on. There were also some poor throws from Ewers to receivers that had some room in space.
