Colton Vasek spotted on Texas football sideline with Arch Manning
One of the top priorities among key targets of the 2023 Texas football recruiting class this fall is the highly touted four-star Oklahoma Sooners commit and Austin Westlake edge rusher Colton Vasek. Despite committing to Oklahoma late in the summer months last offseason, Texas remains in constant communication this fall with the local product Vasek.
And it looks like the interest is getting more real between the Longhorns staff and Vasek if this weekend is any indication. While he wasn’t originally expected to be in attendance for the Texas game at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin against the Iowa State Cyclones on Oct. 15, plans have seemingly changed for Vasek.
We mentioned on the morning of Oct. 15 that Vasek was actually “expected” to be on campus for the Texas-Iowa State game at DKR. And it turns out that Vasek was able to make the visit for yet another Texas game this season.
In fact, Vasek was spotted on the sideline in the first half of this game between the Longhorns and Cyclones with the biggest Texas commit in the 2023 class. A picture emerged on social media on Oct. 15 showing Vasek “chopping it up pregame” with the elite five-star Texas quarterback commit and Isidore Newman product Arch Manning.

This is big to see the connection between Vasek and Manning continue to blossom this fall. Not only is the Texas staff putting the full-court press on Vasek this fall, but also some of the top Texas commits in the 2023 class.
Arch has clearly made Vasek a top priority for his recruiting efforts for the Longhorns 2023 class this fall.
Earlier this week, Arch posted an Instagram story showing Vasek in Texas gear with the message “stay home” to the Austin native.
Vasek has now been in attendance for two consecutive Texas games, as he was present at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas for the Red River Rivalry game against Oklahoma last weekend. He also visited Texas for the matchup against the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide at DKR on Sep. 10.
Texas currently has 21 commits in the 2023 class as of Oct. 15. According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2023 Texas recruiting class ranks at No. 5 in the nation and in the second spot in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma.
