Agiye Hall, WR

Total snaps: 17

Games played: 4

The most interesting of the potential redshirt situations for Sark and the Longhorns at this point of the season is the former Alabama Crimson Tide sophomore transfer wide receiver Agiye Hall. In his Thursday press conference this week, Sark mentioned that it would be in the “best interest” of Hall and the team for the Alabama transfer to take a redshirt this season.

If that does come to fruition and Hall does take a redshirt year in 2022, that would mean he doesn’t take another snap in live-game action this fall. Hall has 17 snaps over the course of four games this season, all of which came on offense. You have to be limited to four games to preserve that redshirt rule.

It’s also worth noting that Hall has one catch on the season on one target, good for seven yards. Hall’s lone catch on the season came in the loss to Texas Tech on the road on Sep. 24.

It feels at least a little bit like Texas might’ve missed some opportunities to get Hall some additional reps while preserving the redshirt this year, though. That is because Hall only took one snap in two of the four games he’s played this season.

If Texas was going to get Hall some live-game reps on offense this season, we could’ve seen him on the field more against UTSA and West Virginia, respectively.

However, I do believe that there is a reason why Hall isn’t getting a bigger role with this offense this season, despite the injuries that Texas suffered at different points of the fall so far. Hall had a tumultuous start to his time with Texas within the last few months. And it looks like Hall might have to wait until the 2023 season to make a real impact on this offense if Sark’s thoughts in his press conference on Oct. 20 are any indication of what’s to come with this redshirt situation.
