On Oct. 22, No. 20 ranked Texas football is set to battle head coach Mike Gundy and the No. 11 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys in Stillwater. There is some uncertainty surrounding the status of Oklahoma State’s quarterback in this game, senior Spencer Sanders.

For the last few weeks, Sanders dealt with an injury that looked to be on his non-throwing shoulder. That injury had him in a sling following Oklahoma State’s win on Oct. 8 over the Texas Tech Red Raiders. It also looked like the injuries were hampering Sanders a little bit as Oklahoma State’s game went on last weekend against the No. 13 TCU Horned Frogs.

The College Football Live crew on ESPN (that was on the set of ESPN College GameDay in Eugene, OR) talked about the status of Sanders and what chances Oklahoma State could have to compete with Texas if the starting quarterback isn’t able to go on Oct. 22.

One of the graphics that appeared on this segment of College Football Live read that Sanders’ “status is questionable for game vs. Texas due to a shoulder injury”.

Desmond Howard and Co. didn’t seem too optimistic regarding Oklahoma State’s chances against a Texas team that is sitting on a three-game winning streak heading into this one.

Here’s what part of the ESPN College GameDay crew had to say on Oct. 21 regarding Sanders’ injury status.

"“If Sanders doesn’t play, Gunnar Gundy, I don’t know if that name sounds familiar to y’all. But Gunnar Gundy is the backup there, so maybe he’ll see some action there.”"

Howard was asked about the chances that Oklahoma State has to win this game if Sanders is not healthy. Here’s what he had to say on that matter.

"“Slim to none. I don’t see them beating Texas without Spencer Sanders. A year ago, Spencer Sanders was a turnover machine. He just couldn’t get it right. This year, he’s been able to protect the ball, he’s making great plays.”"

If Sanders goes this weekend against the Longhorns, it will be the fourth time that he’s faced Texas in his collegiate career at Oklahoma State. Sanders holds a record of 1-2 in the last three seasons against Texas.
