One of the suspended Aggies players that the Texas A&M faithful was most disappointed to see in the news was the former elite five-star recruit and freshman cornerback Denver Harris. The Houston-area product was one of the eight five-star recruits in the Aggies’ 2022 signing class.

Harris was showing a lot of promise through his first few games playing for the Aggies this season. He already had more than a dozen combined tackles and three pass breakups under his belt in just five games played.

In fact, Harris is the second highest-rated defender for Texas A&M so far this season, only behind junior defensive back Jaylon Jones. That type of value that Harris could bring to the table for another team if he does hit the transfer portal next offseason is immense.

And if he does enter the portal in the next few months, Texas should at least kick the tires on the idea of pursuing him.

There’s not a doubt in my mind that Texas is going to be seeking out help in the defensive backfield by way of the transfer portal next offseason. Texas loses senior cornerback D’Shawn Jamison and senior safety Anthony Cook next year. And finding their replacements won’t be easy.

It was less than 12 months ago that Texas was going all out to land a commitment from Harris. he was a top target in the Longhorns 2022 class. And Texas might not have to wait long until he comes available again if his indefinite suspension from Texas A&M is any indication.
