The name that a lot of Longhorns fans are talking about this fall that this team could potentially add out of the transfer portal next offseason is the former elite five-star recruit and Frisco, TX, native wide receiver Evan Stewart. The uber-talented true freshman wideout is off to a good start when he’s given a chance with the Texas A&M offense this season.

While Stewart wasn’t one of the three freshmen that head coach Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies suspended this week, he was already suspended this season. And there is plenty of chatter going on around the Texas and Texas A&M programs that Stewart’s name could surface in the portal next offseason.

I would imagine that has something to do with the offensive struggles that Texas A&M is facing on an ongoing basis so far this season. Texas A&M has yet to find an answer at quarterback, and that has limited the short and long-term outlooks for Stewart in this offense.

And if it is actually true that the fellow former five-star recruit and freshman quarterback Conner Weigman is not happy with the way the offense is being run right now, that just adds another reason for Stewart to consider other options out of the portal next offseason.

If Stewart were to enter the transfer portal next offseason, I think that Sark and new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion would jump to the phones to gauge his interest in coming to the Forty Acres. Stewart would be a really nice fit in this Texas offense. And he would have a shot at immediate playing time next season upon the departure of redshirt junior wide receiver Jordan Whittington.
