In the last few months, one of the positions of focus for the 2023 Texas football recruiting class was wideout. Texas had a pretty rough run on the trail recruiting the wide receiver position in the 2023 class. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion are now down to two wideout commits in the 2023 class.

This has brought about some new targets for the Longhorns 2023 class at wideout and has rejuvenated the pursuit of some other recruits at the position. And one of the names that resurfaced of late is the elite five-star Miami Gulliver Prep wide receiver and LSU Tigers commit Jalen Brown.

It looks like Texas is working to get Brown on campus for a visit before the Early Signing Period in a couple of months.

According to a report from Justin Wells of Inside Texas on Oct. 21 (paid content), Marion and the Longhorns are in contact with Brown and are testing the waters to see if a visit will work out between the two parties this fall.

Texas could reportedly get a visit from Brown either for the game against the TCU Horned Frogs (Nov. 12) or the Baylor Bears (Nov. 25). And it sounds like the Texas staff would want this to be an official visit if Brown makes the trip to Austin next month.

Brown has already three official visits to see the Texas A&M Aggies (Sep. 16), Michigan Wolverines (June 24), and LSU (June 17). And Brown was able to make it to campus for an unofficial visit to Austin earlier this year, specifically back in early April.

Moreover, if Marion and the Longhorns do continue to make a push for Brown this fall, that could be another name to add to the list among potential flips at wideout for the 2023 class before signing day. At the moment, though, some of the top names to watch among potential flip candidates at wide receiver are Notre Dame commit Jaden Greathouse and Louisville commit DeAndre Moore Jr.

Following the de-commitment of four-star Spring Dekaney wide receiver and new Houston commit Jonah Wilson on Oct. 1, Texas has 21 recruits in the 2023 class. The two remaining wide receiver commits in the Longhorns 2023 class are the elite five-star DeSoto product Johntay Cook and four-star Aldine Eisenhower product Ryan Niblett.
