In the next couple of months, we will continue to see the discussion heat up surrounding the NCAA Transfer Portal, and the Texas football program is sure to play an integral role in that conversation. Texas was active in the transfer portal last offseason thanks to some of the aggressive moves that head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff made during the winter and spring.

Sark and the Longhorns landed commitments out of the transfer portal last offseason from the likes of the former Ohio State Buckeyes freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers, Wyoming Cowboys redshirt freshman wide receiver Isaiah Neyor, and Alabama Crimson Tide junior tight end Jahleel Billingsley, among many others.

Texas will have some potential needs to address in the portal next offseason that were exposed through the first half of the 2022 season. But we’re also probably going to see some roster attrition take place again in 2023. Roster attrition is just the name of the game now with the transfer portal.

It’s good to know which players could be on transfer alert heading into the offseason. With that in mind, here’s a look at three Longhorns players on transfer watch in November.

Texas is sure to experience some level of attrition along the offensive line heading into the offseason. With the success that offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the Longhorns found on the recruiting trail recruiting this position group, some of the older players in the mix are probably going to look elsewhere if they don’t have a clear path to playing time.

And one of the offensive linemen that stick out for the Longhorns that could get passed up on the depth chart even more next offseason if he sticks around is the former three-star recruit and redshirt sophomore offensive guard/center Logan Parr.

While Parr does look to be on pace to get a career-high in offensive snaps this season, he’s still probably going to finish the campaign with roughly 50 blocking reps. And Parr isn’t going to have an easy time getting on the field next season either.

A big reason why Parr was able to get a little more than two-dozen offensive snaps in the first half of this season was the season-ending injury that senior interior offensive lineman Junior Angilau suffered in fall camp. If Angilau was healthy, that probably would’ve limited the reps that Parr got compared to his actual workload this season.

If Angilau does return for another year at Texas in 2023, I have a hard time believing that Parr isn’t a third-stringer either at center or guard. If he wants to find more playing time, he’s likely going to have to look elsewhere thanks to the half-dozen offensive linemen that Flood and the Longhorns are likely going to sign in the 2023 recruiting class combined with the strength and depth that came from the 2022 class.
