Ahead of a big-time Big 12 football matchup between the No. 22 ranked Kansas State Wildcats and No. 9 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys in Manhattan, KS, on the afternoon of Oct. 29, there are questions concerning quarterback health for both teams. But the biggest question mark lies with head coach Chris Klieman and Kansas State heading into this game.

Kansas State’s starting quarterback is up in the air heading into this matchup against Oklahoma State as senior quarterback Adrian Martinez is a true game-time decision on Oct. 29, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Martinez reportedly suffered a leg injury last weekend in Kansas State’s loss to the TCU Horned Frogs on the road in Fort Worth.

In fact, Kansas State suffered two quarterback injuries last weekend against the Horned Frogs. Kansas State lost both Martinez and junior quarterback Will Howard to various injuries on Oct. 22.

Yet, we did see Martinez taking the field in Manhattan pre-game on Oct. 29 and going through his warmup routine. That’s obviously not a definite sign that he will be the starter for Kansas State this weekend, but it’s notable for the Wildcats nonetheless.

Adrian Martinez remains a “game-time decision” for K-State in big-time Big 12 football matchup

Prior to exiting the TCU game with a lower-body injury last weekend, Martinez and the Wildcats were rolling on offense. The same could be said when Howard was taking the reigns for the Kansas State offense.

But the Wildcat offense started to stall out as the quarterback injuries kept piling up as the game progressed.

Moreover, Kansas State relies heavily on the quarterback run game on offense. Martinez has more rushing attempts on the season than he does completions. And he’s got more than double the number of rushing touchdowns (nine) that he does passing scores (four).
