It seems like the news cycle won’t stop on the trail for the 2023 Texas football recruiting class on Nov. 7. Texas is getting mostly positive news early this week on the recruiting trail for the 2023 class, aside from the de-commitment of four-star Arlington Seguin defensive back Jamel Johnson.

Maybe the biggest news on the recruiting trail concerning the Longhorns 2023 class early this week, though, was the de-commitment of the elite five-star Denton Ryan linebacker Anthony Hill from the Texas A&M Aggies. Hill is one of the most important outstanding recruits for the Longhorns 2023 class this fall.

As Texas A&M’s slide on the field has continued, its 2023 class will keep fraying more and more. And Texas is now in a spot to take full advantage of some of the top Texas A&M commits in the 2023 class exploring the potential of re-opening their recruitments.

That is exactly what is taking place with Hill at the moment. Texas has continued to put the full-court press on Hill in the last few months, despite his late summer commitment to the Aggies.

The efforts that Texas’ staff and some of the top commits in the Longhorns 2023 class have put in on the recruiting trail this fall with Hill seem to be paying off now. Texas is set to host Hill for a visit this weekend for the high-stakes Big 12 matchup in Austin on Nov. 12 against the undefeated TCU Horned Frogs.

This will be the opportunity that Texas is looking for to take the lead in Hill’s recruitment a little bit before one month from signing day.

Yet, there are already some indications that Texas is sitting in a fantastic spot with Hill right now. Multiple recruiting analysts/reporters put in forecasts early this week projecting Hill’s commitment to Texas.

A trio of recruiting experts from Rivals put in FutureCasts on Nov. 7 projecting Hill’s commitment to Texas, including Jason Suchomel of Orangebloods.

Two recruiting analysts/reporters from On3 also put in RPM picks on Nov. 7 projecting Hill’s commitment to Texas.

Five recruiting experts from two of the major recruiting services (On3 and Rivals) forecasting Hill’s commitment to Texas this week is more than enough for me to say that the Longhorns are trending for the elite linebacker.

The fact that the news dropped that Hill de-committed from Texas A&M and got on the books for a visit to Texas during the TCU game this weekend is icing on the cake for the Horns to get the label of “trending” in this recruitment.
