3 key injured Texas football players ahead of TCU game
What looks to be the most important home conference game of the season for No. 18 ranked Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian has arrived on Nov. 12. Texas is set to host the undefeated No. 4 ranked TCU Horned Frogs at home under the lights at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in primetime in Week 11.
This game has so much on the line that the set of ESPN College GameDay was in Austin for the second time this season. For College GameDay to come to Austin twice in the span of three months shows just how much of a player Texas remains in the Big 12 in November, which is a massive improvement from what we saw from this team under Sark at the same time last season.
Yet, there are still some question marks looming for both teams concerning the injury status of a few key players heading into this game. For Texas, some injury issues remain in the secondary. And TCU has some injury issues that it faced on the offensive side of the ball in the last few weeks.
Updating the injury status for key Texas football players for Week 11 vs. TCU
Here’s a look at three key Longhorns players that are dealing with injuries worth noting heading into the TCU game in Week 11.
Jaylon Guilbeau, NB
A few weeks ago in the loss to the Oklahoma State Cowboys on the road in Stillwater, Texas lost true freshman defensive back Jaylon Guilbeau to an injury. In a span of drives that went horribly wrong for the Texas defense in terms of suffering a host of injuries against Oklahoma State on Oct. 22, Guilbeau was one of the unfortunate casualties for the Longhorns.
And in the bye week that followed the Oklahoma State game, it didn’t sound like there was much optimism to speak of regarding the recovery timeline for Guilbeau.
Sark even announced in his Monday press conference on Nov. 7 that Guilbeau “will probably miss a few more weeks”.
It’s pretty clear that Texas is going to be missing Guilbeau against TCU, which will hurt the depth in this secondary for a big game against a good group of wideouts. And it’s hard to tell if Guilbeau will be able to make his return to live-game action before the end of the regular season.
