The defense was awesome

Two players that I must give shoutouts to in this game are junior defensive back Jahdae Barron and sophomore edge rusher Barryn Sorrell.

Barron had the play that was almost a game-saver for Texas late in the fourth quarter. With roughly five minutes to go in the game, Barron had a scoop and score on a botched option snap from Max Duggan that was pretty disastrous for the Horned Frogs at the time.

But that wasn’t the only great play that Barron made in this game. Barron was all over the place, as he finished up with a season-high 11 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one fumble returned for a touchdown, and one quarterback pressure.

Moreover, let’s also talk about how awesome Sorrell was in this game. Sorrell came up with a season-high two sacks, three run stuffs, three tackles for loss, one batted ball, and a season-high 11 tackles.

Sorrell was doing well setting the edge and containing the pocket to limit what Duggan and standout running back Kendre Miller could do with the inside zone and power option.

And the Texas defense played really well altogether, outside of a few big plays to star wideout Quentin Johnston and one 75-yard run play for a touchdown where Miller broke loose. But this TCU offense is good, and you’re not going to stop Miller and especially Johnston for an entire game.

The Texas defense played winning football in this game and scored more points than the offense when it was all said and done. I don’t have much of anything bad to say about the way the defense played. Hopefully, the offense will pick up the pace in the next two games and take advantage of the strides the defense has made in the last few weeks.
