Following a sluggish loss for head coach Steve Sarkisian and No. 18 ranked Texas football at the hands of new head coach Sonny Dykes and the No. 4 ranked TCU Horned Frogs at home on Nov. 12, this team needs to close out the regular season strong in the next couple of weeks. Texas showed plenty of flaws on offense in the seven-point loss to TCU this weekend.

Sark and the Longhorns must learn from those cracks they showed against TCU on November 12 and better themselves for the regular season’s final road game, set for November 19 against the Kansas Jayhawks.

After losing to TCU in Week 11, Texas carries a record of 6-4 (4-3 Big 12) into this matchup against Kansas.

Meanwhile, Kansas comes into this game following a disappointing showing in Lubbock in a convincing 43-28 loss against the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Nov. 12. The loss to Texas Tech gives Kansas a record of 6-4 (3-4 Big 12) heading into Week 12.

Here’s a look at the opening betting odds as the Longhorns get set to hit the road to face the Jayhawks at Kansas Memorial Stadium in Lawrence on Nov. 19, with the kickoff time set for 2:30 p.m. CT.

Texas football vs. Kansas: Opening betting odds for Week 12

Texas opens up as a whopping 9.5-point favorite over Kansas for Week 12. And the over/under is set at 64.5 for this game.

The moneyline favors Texas (-350) over Kansas (+270).

According to the ESPN Football Power Index, Texas has a 77.0 percent chance to beat Kansas.

Texas will need to pick itself up after the worst offensive performance of the season to date in the 17-10 loss to TCU on the night of Nov. 12. Redshirt freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers and the Longhorns clearly have plenty to work on in practice this week leading up to the Kansas game.

And there should be no lack of motivating factors for Texas heading into Week 12. Kansas handed Texas its most embarrassing loss last season, coming into overtime at home at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

If Texas is able to get this win over the Jayhawks, it would be the first for the Longhorns in this series since the 2019 season. The 2020 contest between Texas and Kansas wound up getting cancelled due to COVID-19 issues.
