3 key injured Kansas players ahead of Texas football matchup
As Texas football looks to reverse its fortunes in the final two games of the regular season, injuries could play a big role in the matchup against the Kansas Jayhawks on the road in Lawrence on Nov. 19. Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian are still working through some injuries in the secondary heading into Week 12.
Meanwhile, head coach Lance Leipold and the upstart Jayhawks have a couple of looming questions concerning nagging injuries in their quarterback room this week.
Both Texas and Kansas will need to be as healthy as possible as each team tries to right the ship coming off some disappointing performances for each respective team over the weekend. Texas is coming off a poor offensive performance in a sluggish 17-10 loss at the hands of the No. 4 ranked TCU Horned Frogs at home on Nov. 12.
Kansas didn’t look much better than Texas last weekend, though. The Jayhawks fell short on the road in Lubbock at the hands of the Texas Tech Red Raiders by double digits. Texas Tech was roughly a field-goal favorite over the Jayhawks before kickoff. But Texas Tech came up with the 43-28 win, surpassing the expectations that most had of this game heading into the weekend.
Jalon Daniels and the critical Kansas players that are dealing with recent injuries before facing Texas football
Here’s a look at three injured Jayhawks players worth noting heading into the Texas game in Week 12.
Cobee Bryant, CB
A significant player that returned from what originally looked to be a scary injury for the Jayhawks a few weeks ago is the standout redshirt sophomore cornerback Cobee Bryant. After suffering a very scary leg injury in Kansas’ loss to the Oklahoma Sooners on Oct. 15, it didn’t take him too long to make his return for the Jayhawk secondary.
In fact, we saw Bryant back in action for an impressive win for the Jayhawks a couple of weeks ago over the Oklahoma State Cowboys, by multiple touchdowns at home.
It’s worth noting that Bryant essentially made a full return to live-game action for Kansas in the Week 10 win over Oklahoma State.
In each of the last two weeks, Bryant was able to take more than 60 defensive snaps for the Jayhawks.
The leg injury that Bryant suffered against Oklahoma doesn’t seem to be hampering him much at this point of the season. His availability should be notable for Kansas as they face a talented Texas receiving corps that will be trying to respond to a bad outing against TCU last weekend.
