Texas Football: Watch Quinn Ewers’ first career rushing TD

Head coach Steve Sarkisian saw his No. 23 ranked Texas football team get off to a slow start on Black Friday against head coach Dave Aranda and the Baylor Bears. The first drive of the game for Texas on offense resulted in a safety as redshirt freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers was flagged for intentional grounding on a throw from the end zone.

And then, the Longhorns’ defense was burned on Baylor’s ensuing offensive drive on a deep ball that put the Bears up 9-0 in the first quarter.

But it didn’t take long for Ewers and the Longhorns to respond. To round out the first quarter, Texas would score two straight touchdowns to take the lead for the first time in this game against the Bears.

Both touchdowns for Texas in the first quarter came on the ground. And one of them came by way of Ewers using his legs to get in the end zone. It was the first rushing touchdown of Ewers’ collegiate career. And it is the first touchdown in the game for QB1.

This rushing score for Ewers now puts him at a tally of 15 total touchdowns of the season.

The second touchdown of the game for Texas against Baylor on Nov. 25 came by way of the first rushing score for star junior running back Bijan Robinson. Bijan is now one touchdown shy of 20 on the season from scrimmage.

There is a lot of offense early in this game. It looks like Sark, Ewers, and the Longhorns could have a shootout on their hands in this game against redshirt sophomore quarterback Blake Shapen and the Bears on Black Friday.

Texas is sporting a record of 7-4 (5-3 Big 12) as of Week 13 following the dominant 55-14 win over the Kansas Jayhawks on the road on Nov. 19. Meanwhile, Baylor has a record of 6-5 (4-4 Big 12) following a last-second Week 12 loss at home to the TCU Horned Frogs.
