Xavier Worthy, WR

The most notable potential transfer that we’re discussing at the conclusion of the regular season is the former Freshman All-American and sophomore wide receiver Xavier Worthy.

The transfer rumors haven’t slowed in the last couple of weeks for Worthy. And the more and more we hear about the possibility of him testing the waters in the portal, the more it sounds like he’s serious about potentially heading back home to the west coast.

Moreover, there was more fuel added to the fire in terms of the Worthy transfer discussion when he scrubbed his Instagram page over the weekend of anything that tied him to the Longhorns.

Granted, Worthy has scrubbed his Instagram page before, so this is nothing new for him, and no reason to panic right away. It’s also worth noting that there is still Longhorns content on Worthy’s Twitter page.

The issues that Worthy had in the passing game with redshirt freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers could be one of the driving factors in terms of why he could look elsewhere. Wanting to get closer to home could also play a role in Worthy’s transfer decision heading into the offseason.

I would assume that if Worthy does test the waters in the transfer portal heading into the 2023 offseason, the next destination for him would be with head coach Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans. Worthy is a Fresno, CA, native which is around three or four hours north of LA.

Worthy already came very close to testing the waters on the transfer market last offseason. But Sark and the Longhorns were ultimately able to get him to stick around for another year. It wouldn’t surprise me if he were to actually pull the trigger on testing the transfer market next offseason.
