A massive storyline heading into the offseason is the status of sophomore wide receiver Xavier Worthy with the Longhorns.

The rumors are flying of late concerning the potential transfer of Worthy back closer to home on the west coast. Worthy is a Fresno, CA, native. The common school of thought right now is that Worthy will want to get closer to home while simultaneously getting a big NIL deal with head coach Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans in the PAC-12.

And while this is far from a done deal at the moment, there is still the chance that Worthy sticks around with the Longhorns for at least one more year. It was reported on Dec. 1 that Worthy is still largely considering a return to the Forty Acres in 2023.

It sounds like the Texas staff is doing a nice job of convincing Worthy that the Texas offense is the place to be next season.

Moreover, if Worthy does test the transfer market, it would be the second offseason in a row that he at least kicked the tires on doing so. Last offseason, Worthy never officially put his name in the portal. But he was definitely courted by other programs.

And that appears to be going on once again heading into the 2023 offseason.

It just doesn’t help that Worthy regressed on the field statistically in 2022 as he and redshirt freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers had a hard time connecting on the deep ball throughout the regular season.
