Texas continues to trend well in the most important remaining recruitment of the 2023 class ahead of the Early Signing Period, beginning on Dec. 21. It looks like Texas’ solid finish to the regular season, especially on the defensive side of the ball, made a positive impression on the elite five-star Denton Ryan linebacker Anthony Hill.

In fact, Texas’ defense has continued to make a big impression on Hill in the last month or so with the standout performances from this unit on the field in the last few games. That goes all the way back to Texas’ defense standing out to Hill during his latest unofficial visit to Austin, which occurred for the TCU game on Nov. 12.

Texas will look to continue to make a big move to seal the deal in this recruitment in the next few weeks. But I don’t think some of the competitors in this recruitment will go away anytime soon.

Texas A&M will remain Texas’ biggest competition in the race to land the ultimate commitment from Hill ahead of, or during, the Early Signing Period.

Both the Longhorns and Aggies are looking to get Hill on campus in Austin and College Station, respectively, for unofficial visits before signing day arrives. And while we don’t have anything official on the books that we know of yet for Hill to make the trip to Austin or College Station before signing day, this will be something we will keep monitoring throughout the next couple of weeks.

If there is one recruitment that I am confident about Texas in terms of its ability to get a commitment from with the early signing day fast approaching, it is definitely Hill. This is the top priority remaining for the Longhorns in the 2023 class, and the staff will continue to put the full-court press on Hill for the next few weeks.
