A common sense landing spot for any young and talented player looking to find his way out of the portal is with a past connection at a destination that presents an opportunity to succeed right away.

And in the case of Harris looking for his next destination out of the portal, landing with first-year head coach Billy Napier and the Florida Gators in the SEC East makes a lot of sense.

Florida is still rebuilding its roster heading into the 2023 offseason as Napier and the Gators have already experienced about as much roster attrition as any team in the Power Five. The Gators are already down more than a dozen players to the transfer portal since the window opened earlier this week.

There is a past connection that Harris has with the Florida coaching staff that might draw him to Gainesville out of the portal this coming offseason. Florida assistant head coach (for defense/cornerbacks) Corey Raymond was the primary recruiter from LSU that was recruiting Harris out of high school.

Raymond developed one of the stronger connections of any recruiter that was pursuing Harris on the trail this past cycle.

And given how the Gators have already lost a couple of key cornerbacks to the portal, it looks like Raymond and Napier will be seeking help at the position for next season. Harris could challenge for a starting spot right away if he was able to right the ship off the field hypothetically in Gainesville.
