A recruit that we have a better read on coming out of the weekend as it pertains to his status with the Longhorns is the talented four-star Louisville Cardinals commit and St. John Bosco wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr.

Moore wasn’t originally expected to make it to campus last weekend, which is why we have more confidence that Texas is in a good spot to flip his commitment from Louisville heading into NSD1. The news came about on the night of Dec. 16 that Moore would be taking the unofficial visit to Austin, which was his last in-person trip before the dead period hit early this week.

Moreover, we really didn’t know whether Moore would even take a visit before making a final decision at some point in the next few days. And it sounds like the Georgia Bulldogs don’t feel great about its standing with Moore in the closing days of this recruitment after he made the abrupt trip to Austin last weekend.

Texas and Georgia were always probably going to be the two schools that Moore boiled his decision down to. But since we’re getting some pretty positive returns coming out of the weekend visit, it’s hard to deny the momentum that Texas holds in this recruitment.

We even got a few forecasts projecting Moore’s commitment to Texas in the last 24 hours. Roach of Horns247 put in a 247Sports Crystal Ball Prediction with moderate confidence for Moore to land with the Longhorns.

There was also an On3 RPM pick projecting Moore’s commitment to Texas from one On3 recruiting analyst (Chad Simmons) on Dec. 19.

All in all, I’m not saying that there is any guarantee that Texas is going to sign Moore later this week. But Texas certainly has the makings of the pacesetter in the race to sign Moore during the Early Signing Period.
