Georgia

What looks to be the most favorite landing spot for Hunter in the SEC in the early stages of his recruitment out of the portal is with head coach Kirby Smart and the reigning National Champion Georgia Bulldogs. The defending National Champion and SEC Champion Georgia is a possibility for Hunter that emerged pretty soon after his name popped up on the transfer market late last weekend.

Georgia was the first school that I saw commonly mentioned as a possibility for Hunter if he chooses to go away from Sanders and Colorado.

A report from Chris Hummer of 247Sports on Dec. 19 (paid content) noted that “Colorado is not a lock” for Hunter. Hummer also reported that Georgia is “said to be intrigued” by Hunter and “will make a serious push” for the Jackson State corner.

And this is not the only place that we’re hearing Georgia is a school that is bound to make a major push for Hunter. Multiple college football media outlets, including On3 and DawgNation, have also talked about Georgia as a realistic landing spot for Hunter.

Since Hunter is a native of Suwanee, GA, the connection with the Dawgs makes sense from a geographic proximity perspective to his hometown.

Smart and his staff also recruited Hunter out of high school right through the whistle on signing day with the 2022 class, which is something that the Georgia native won’t forget anytime soon.

At the moment, it looks as if Smart and Georgia are an emerging frontrunner in the race to land a commitment from Hunter out of the portal if Colorado doesn’t end up being his next stop. And Georgia might be able to put together a compelling case to compete with Sanders and the Buffs no matter what.
