Duce Robinson, TE

The recruit that the Longhorns faithful would love to have above all else in the 2023 class heading into National Signing Day 2023 is the elite five-star Pinnacle (AZ) tight end Duce Robinson. Texas will continue to push for Robinson through the whistle on late signing day 2023 with Robinson. He is that caliber of high school recruit.

Special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks and the Longhorns are likely fighting an uphill battle with Robinson, though.

The school that appears to have a lot of momentum in this recruitment of late is the Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia has produced a lot of solid tight ends in recent memory, with the latest being star sophomore Brock Bowers. It certainly appears that the pitch of the production that Georgia got out of the tight end position in the last couple of years is hitting home with Robinson.

But this is not a recruitment that the Longhorns are going to give up on. Banks and the Longhorns certainly have a good pitch for Robinson, given that the five-star Isidore Newman quarterback signee Arch Manning will be tossing him the ball. And we saw what All-Big 12 tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders could do in this offense during the high points of the regular season.

Texas will continue to try and chip away at Robinson in the closing months of this recruiting cycle. If Texas could somehow pull off landing Robinson on NSD 2023, that would give this class four top-ranked recruits at their positions in the nation. That is something that just doesn’t happen all that often.
