One of the few remaining recruitments for Texas football in the 2023 class around halfway through the Early Signing Period is with the highly touted four-star Louisville Cardinals commit and St. John Bosco wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. Moore looked like a Texas lean heading into the first Early National Signing Day on Dec. 21.

Yet, it appeared that new head coach Jeff Brohm and the Cardinals made a big enough late push with Moore to get him to hold off on a signing decision on NSD1. Moore was originally expected to announce his decision at the St. John Bosco signing day ceremony on the morning of Dec. 21.

Instead, Moore didn’t show up to the signing day and ceremonies and wound up pushing back his decision at least one day. That led to some speculation regarding whether the Texas staff would continue to even push to flip Moore’s commitment from Louisville heading into NSD2.

The answer to the question of whether head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns staff would continue to push for Moore through the rest of the Early Signing Period looks to have an answer now. Multiple reports are indicating that Moore is getting closer to a signing decision as of the early afternoon of Dec. 22.

Texas football remains a possibility for 4-Star WR DeAndre Moore Jr. on NSD2

Orangebloods is reporting that Moore could sign with Texas on Dec. 22. And we have a report from Gerry Hamilton of Inside Texas on Dec. 22 (paid content) indicating that the Longhorns staff is “back to feeling confident today” (on NSD2) with Moore.

There were a few other reports that came in since the night of the first signing day indicating that Moore is still very much in play for the Longhorns.

It’s also worth mentioning that it sounds like the Georgia Bulldogs won’t be in play at this point as Moore narrows down his final decision. Texas and Louisville appear to be the two schools that Moore will decide between.

We will continue to monitor the situation regarding Moore’s decision as more buzz and reports come about throughout the Early Signing Period.
