The recruitment that would clearly be the most important for Sark and the Longhorns to win as the late National Signing Day approaches in February 2023 would be that of the elite five-star Pinnacle (AZ) tight end Duce Robinson.

Texas will be involved in a dogfight on the recruiting trail with the Georgia Bulldogs and USC in the race to land a commitment from Robinson for the next couple of months. This is a race that once looked to favor first-year head coach Lincoln Riley and the Trojans.

But Texas and Georgia have made up a lot of ground this fall and look to be neck and neck with the Trojans heading into the turn of the calendar year. In fact, I would say that Georgia at least has the slight lead in this recruitment at the moment if a leader had to be named.

That’s not to say that this recruitment isn’t essentially wide open at the moment. Any of these three programs could wind up winning this recruitment. And it looks like all three are going to continue to put the full-court press on Robinson through the whistle on the late signing day in February.

The good news for Longhorns fans is that the returns from this recruitment were more positive than ever really for this staff in the last few weeks. Texas has impressed Robinson since his official visit to Austin last month. And the prominence that this top-three-ranked recruiting class in the nation brings for the Longhorns combined with the appeal of playing with Arch Manning should be something that continues to get Robinson’s attention.
