Xavier Worthy, WR

The biggest name on this list, by far, is the former highly touted four-star recruit and sophomore wide receiver Xavier Worthy. The former Freshman All-American still seems to be entertaining the possibility of exploring his other options in the transfer portal this coming offseason.

During the offense’s press conference earlier this week for the Alamo Bowl, Worthy seemingly added more fuel to the fire amid the transfer rumors that surrounded him following the conclusion of the regular season last month.

In that press conference, Worthy was asked whether he would be returning to the Longhorns in 2023. Worthy responded without really addressing the question by saying that “I’m just focused on the game on Thursday”.

I personally thought that Sark and wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion had done enough convincing a few weeks ago to get Worthy to stay on the Forty Acres in 2023. That might not be the case given how Worthy is still fueling some speculation entering the offseason.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Worthy is an important player for the Longhorns to get back in the fold next season. Texas could have one of the most talented receiving corps in the country between the likes of incoming freshman Johntay Cook, redshirt sophomore Isaiah Neyor, Worthy, and potentially even redshirt junior Jordan Whittington (if he decides to return for one more year).

And that’s not even counting any potential portal additions for Sark, Marion, and the Longhorns in the 2023 class.
