Marcus Carr shoots better than 50 percent from deep for the third consecutive game

Turning the attention from a player that is ice-cold shooting from the field to one that is red-hot, I would anticipate that Carr is able to keep his streak going against the Sooners. In the last four games, Carr is shooting a whopping 19-of-31 from beyond the arc and around 60 percent from the field.

Carr’s hot streak really took flight when he tied a career-high with 41 points on just 19 field goal attempts in Texas’ 97-72 win over Texas A&M-Commerce on Dec. 27.

Yet, it’s not like scoring at an impressive rate is anything new for Carr of late. He’s averaging more than 25 points per game in the last four outings. And he hasn’t scored fewer than 17 points in each of the last four games.

If Carr can keep this hot streak going into the start of Big 12 play, it’s hard to imagine any team getting the best of the Longhorns. The way Carr is scoring right now is not just impressive in volume, but it is also extremely efficient. That is a lethal combination that is a bit of a new development in Carr’s game since he first donned the burnt orange last season.

One of the most important aspects of this game for the Longhorns will be to keep the three-ball flying at an efficient clip. Carr has spearheaded Texas’ three-point shooting efforts in the last few games. And if he’s bound to hit his looks from beyond the arc at a clip of at least 50 percent for the third consecutive game, Texas is going to be in a great spot to beat the Sooners.
