Texas Football: 3 elite 2024 recruits the Longhorns can land in January
Peyton Woodyard, S
The hot recruitment to watch in the coming days among the top targets of the Longhorns 2024 class is that of the elite five-star St. John Bosco (CA) safety Peyton Woodyard. This top-rated California safety is someone that Texas has apparently made a really sizable move with over the last few weeks.
Texas seems to be the school that has the most buzz at the moment in the race to land a commitment from Woodyard.
Despite not including Texas among his top seven finalist schools that he dropped on social media on Dec. 15, it looks like the Longhorns were able to make up a lot of ground in the last month or so. Texas actually could’ve made such a big move in the last few weeks that it is now the frontrunner to land Woodyard on Jan. 7.
Texas has already secured a commitment from the highly touted four-star St. John Bosco wide receiver and teammate of Woodyard’s, DeAndre Moore Jr. The Longhorns hauled in a pledge from Moore during the Early Signing Period a couple of weeks ago. And Woodyard responded to the Longhorns nabbing Moore on social media with a quote tweet saying “Hookem”.

Sark and Gideon did a great job plugging away in this recruitment since early December. And it could deliver the Longhorns’ first five-star commitment to the 2024 class during the All-American Bowl next weekend.
It looks as if the Georgia Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes, and USC Trojans are still communicating with Woodyard less than a week ahead of his scheduled commitment date. Georgia was the presumed favorite when Woodyard first announced his Jan. 7 decision date with Ohio State and USC trailing not far behind the Dawgs.
USC did get the most recent in-person visit with Woodyard ahead of his commitment date. He also made unofficial trips to see Georgia and Ohio State during the regular season. The last time he visited Austin was an unofficial trip in June 2022.
