Texas Football: Assessing 4 most important 2023 early enrollees
Arch Manning, QB
The most highly anticipated early enrollee arriving on campus this week for the Longhorns is the five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning. Fans and media alike are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the nation’s top-rated 2023 recruit on campus later this week.
While Arch isn’t set to compete for starting reps at the quarterback position right away in spring ball, it will be important to see how he gets acclimated with the rest of his teammates. It’s obviously very important for a player that was so integral to the foundation of the Longhorns 2023 class to have a smooth transition onto campus heading into his true freshman campaign.
The plan for Arch looks to be that he will take a redshirt behind quarterbacks Quinn Ewers and Maalik Murphy in 2023. And then, he will be able to get the torch passed to him from Ewers in 2024 to be the next Texas starting quarterback.
While Arch won’t be in line to start in this offense immediately, he still needs to have a smooth transition into the program. It’s not easy to learn Sark’s offense, so Arch will still have a lot of information to digest during the spring.
All in all, spring ball will be a time for Arch to get comfortable both with life in Austin and on campus while getting his footing with the football program. Arch will have a bright national spotlight on him throughout spring ball, so this will also be a time for him to get adjusted to the new media scope he’ll be put under for the next few years.
