targets, on Jan. 7. Texas will see some of its priority recruits from the 2023 class take part in the Army All-American Bowl this weekend.

And there are even a few notable targets of the Longhorns 2023 and 2024 classes that will be announcing their commitments on Jan. 7.

In fact, there are three or four targets for the Longhorns on the recruiting trail between the 2023 and 2024 classes that will be announcing commitments at the All-American Bowl this weekend. It looks like Texas has a realistic shot with all three.

It’s also worth noting that each of the Longhorns’ priority recruits in the 2023 class that are announcing commitments on Jan. 7 have already signed on the dotted line during the Early Signing Period last month.

Mike Roach of Horns247 released a good piece detailing the latest intel and predictions for the top Longhorns targets at the All-American Bowl this weekend.

We’ll get to see these Longhorns’ priority recruits announce their commitments on live television when the All-American Bowl is broadcast on NBC this weekend. Here’s a look at a prediction of every commitment that the Longhorns could land on Jan. 7.

Jelani McDonald, ATH

The target that the Longhorns are most likely to officially land on Jan. 7 is the highly touted four-star Waco Connally athlete and former Oklahoma State Cowboys commit Jelani McDonald. The physically-gifted 6-foot-3 and 195-pound athlete is being recruited as a hybrid safety/linebacker that could either play at the boundary or on the weak side, similar to what Texas had in senior linebacker DeMarvion Overshown.

McDonald is definitely one of the most athletic and gifted recruits that the Longhorns have pursued in the 2023 class. He’s got a 6-foot-6 wingspan that, when combined with his speed and 6-foot-3 frame, makes for some next-level tools that the Texas staff is ecstatic about.

Moreover, McDonald is one of the 2023 recruits that already signed his National Letter of Intent during the Early Signing Period. He’s just announcing his decision at the All-American Bowl on Jan. 7.

The decision for McDonald comes down to Texas, Oklahoma State, and the TCU Horned Frogs. Texas sat in the driver’s seat in this recruitment since the successful official visit for McDonald to Austin on the weekend of Dec. 16.
