Tyler Scott, DB

One of the fast-risers in the 2023 class this fall was the talented and lengthy 6-foot-2 and 195-pound Mableton Pebblebrook (GA) defensive back Tyler Scott.

The Georgia defensive back was one of the late senior evaluations for the Longhorns coaching staff. And this was definitely a good find for Texas’ staff as Scott looks like one of the gems among the non-blue-chip recruits in the 2023 class.

Just look at some of the late offers that Scott received during the fall.

  • Alabama
  • Texas
  • USC
  • Oklahoma
  • LSU
  • Arkansas
  • Michigan
  • Miami

And that’s not even all of the big-time Power Five programs that sent offers Scott’s way early in the fall.

I have to give a lot of credit to cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph and the Longhorns’ defensive staff for making the late run that they did with Scott. Texas worked its way into the conversation among the top schools for Scott heading into signing day.

Heading into the All-American Bowl, though, it looks like Texas will be on the outside looking in for Scott’s decision. Tennessee and Auburn look to be the two schools that Scott will be picking between on this day.

Moreover, Scott signed his LOI during the Early Signing Period last month. Like McDonald, Scott signed on the dotted line a few weeks ago during the Early Signing Period and will be announcing his commitment on Jan. 7.

Likely destination: Auburn
