The next test on tap for acting head coach Rodney Terry and No. 10 Texas basketball lies ahead on Jan. 11 against head coach Jamie Dixon and the No. 17 TCU Horned Frogs. Texas is set to take on TCU at home at the Moody Center in Austin as this team looks to extend its winning streak to two games.

Terry and the Longhorns were able to right the ship in a big way after a historic defensive meltdown at home last week in a 116-103 loss at the hands of first-year head coach Jerome Tang and the Kansas State Wildcats. In the last game, the Longhorns bounced back with a solid 56-46 win on the road over head coach Mike Boynton and the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Jan. 7.

Texas is sporting a record of 13-2 (2-1 Big 12) following the 10-point road win over Oklahoma State last weekend.

Meanwhile, TCU comes into this matchup sporting a record of 13-2 (2-1 Big 12) following an upset loss at home at the hands of the No. 25 Iowa State Cyclones on Jan. 7 by the final score of 69-67. TCU had won a whopping 11 games in a row prior to that tough two-point loss to Iowa State last weekend.

Here’s a look at the betting odds and game prediction as Texas gets set to host TCU at home at the Moody Center in Austin on Jan. 11, with the tip-off time set for 8 p.m. CT.

Texas basketball vs. TCU: Betting odds for Jan. 11

Texas is a 6.5-point favorite over TCU and the over/under is set at 141.5 (per FanDuel).

The moneyline favors Texas (-250) over TCU (+202).

According to the ESPN Basketball Power Index, Texas has an 81.8 percent chance of beating TCU.

Texas vs. TCU prediction

There are some notable similarities between the Longhorns and Horned Frogs heading into this game, even outside of the identical 13-2 (2-1 Big 12) record. Texas and TCU are both teams that were thought to be predominately focused on defense with the potential to go off on offense at any time.

But both Texas and TCU have upped their offensive game while giving up some more leeway on defense at the outset of Big 12 play. And while a lot of that slippage in defensive production from both teams has a lot to do with the strength top-to-bottom in the Big 12 this season, both teams are looking to find their identity in this game.

Texas and TCU have both averaged more than 75 points per game allowed in the last two outings.

Moreover, TCU is a team that brings a three-headed monster to the table in senior guard Damion Baugh, senior forward Emanuel Miller, and junior guard Mike Miles. Each of those three Horned Frogs players averages at least a dozen points per game on the season.

If Texas can remain disruptive on the perimeter on defense while holding its own on the offensive end of the floor, this is a great opportunity to notch the first Big 12 win ever for Longhorns’ men’s hoops at the Moody Center.
