Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian got their third addition to the 2024 recruiting class on Jan. 11 by landing a commitment from the big-arm three-star Cypress Cy-Fair (TX) quarterback Trey Owens. Sark and Texas both got their first quarterback commit in the 2024 class and someone that can help fill some depth in the QB room over the long term by landing Owens this week.

It’s nice to have this spot filled in the Longhorns 2024 class after there were some question marks regarding where this staff would go at the quarterback position after landing the elite five-star Isidore Newman product Arch Manning in the 2023 class.

But there is still a lot of work left to do for Sark and his staff in the 2024 class. Texas only has three commitments to the 2024 class; it looks like a big wave of momentum could be just around the corner for this group.

Where does Texas football look next in the 2024 recruiting class after landing 3-Star QB Trey Owens?

With that in mind, here’s a look at who the next commitment to the Longhorns 2024 class could be after landing Owens on Jan. 11.

Braylon Conley, CB

A top in-state defensive back target for the Longhorns 2024 class early in the cycle is the rising three-star Humble Atascocita product Braylon Conley. Texas has hosted Conley on a couple of visits since the fall, both of which came on game weekends at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

And it looks like another visit is already on the books for Conley to make a third trip to Texas in the last four months. He’ll be one of the many visitors on campus in Austin next weekend for Texas’ Junior Day festivities.

Despite Texas having scouted out Conley for almost a year now, he just received an offer from the Longhorns in October 2022. Cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph and defensive line coach Bo Davis have really ratcheted up the recruitment of Conley in the last few months.

It’s starting to feel like Texas is one of the top two or three schools in this recruitment early in 2023. If Texas keeps its foot on the gas with Conley, it wouldn’t surprise me to see him in this 2024 class by the end of spring ball.
