While Texas did already add one cornerback via the transfer portal in the 2023 class, another one is still definitely possible. It appears that Gideon and cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph will still be keeping an eye on the portal in case the right player pops up.

And if Texas is looking for a talented corner that can be a major long-term impact player, then look no further than the former elite five-star recruit and Georgia Bulldogs true freshman Jaheim Singletary. The 6-foot-2.5 and 175-pound Singletary could be a nice long-term fit at Texas at the boundary corner position.

Singletary is an insanely gifted and lengthy boundary corner that is treacherous in man-coverage situations. And he really excels when put on an island in press-man coverage.

Considering that Texas is likely only going to have redshirt sophomore boundary cornerback Ryan Watts around for another season, maybe two, I think adding a younger player at this spot makes a lot of sense. Texas didn’t get much from the freshman backup boundary corner Austin Jordan during the 2022 season, so solidifying the two-depth could be key this offseason.

All in all, if Texas is even considering the possibility of adding another DB out of the portal this offseason, then Singletary is probably going to be one of the most talented that surfaces on the transfer market from here on out. He should be the first offer if this scenario proves to be true that Texas is still looking for DBs in the portal.
