Texas Football: Second-year CB Ishmael Ibraheem enters the portal
The most recent NCAA Transfer Portal entrant among now-former Texas football players is the former four-star recruit and redshirt freshman cornerback Ishmael Ibraheem. Matt Zenitz of On3 reported on the morning of Jan. 12 that Ibraheem has entered the transfer portal.
This comes after Ibraheem was suspended from the team indefinitely following an arrest back in September 2022, according to KXAN Austin.
Ibraheem faced some off-the-field issues during his two years with the Longhorns. He was also suspended from the team in 2021 after being charged with a violation of an Oklahoma state law, according to the Austin American-Statesman.
Moreover, Ibraheem took just a handful of snaps in each of the last two seasons. He got some defensive snaps in Texas’ season-opening win over the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks on Sep. 3, where he was able to register one pass breakup.
During the 2021 season, Ibraheem got three live-game reps, all of which came in the Week 3 win over the Rice Owls.

Ibraheem will be entering the transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining. The 6-foot-1 and 170-pound cornerback will be looking to find a spot where he can make an impact on the field at his next stop out of the transfer portal.
Ibraheem is a product of Kimball High School in Dallas, TX. He committed to former Texas cornerbacks coach Jay Valai and defensive coordinator Chris Ash as part of the Longhorns 2021 recruiting class.
Coming out of high school, Ibraheem was one of the five highest-rated high school recruits in the Longhorns 2021 class. He was also rated as one of the top 15 2021 cornerback recruits in the country in the 247Sports Composite.
Texas has now both of the blue-chip cornerback recruits that committed to the 2021 class. Former Texas sophomore cornerback Jamier Johnson already committed to the Indiana Hoosiers out of the transfer portal this offseason.
